Shopping List: Vin Brulé Mix by Bizzarri

Bizzarri is an old apothecary located right behind Pizza Signoria. It has been selling dried herbs, spices and extracts since 1842. The wooden cabinets and glass jars containing any possible essence and herbal solution alone are worth the visit.

I usually walk there for curry powder and Bizzarri’s special vin brulé mix, a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, coriander and macis, traditionally used in the winter to make hot mulled wine. This spice mixture is extremely versatile and can be used in the warmer months to make vin brulé-infused custards and spicy baked fruit tarts.
