    Pane del Pescatore, which means “fisherman’s bread,” is a bun-shaped, shortbread pastry enriched with dried fruits and nuts. Its name derives from the fact that fishermen used to take it on board with them during journeys at sea. Because it has butter and sugar in it, in fact, it keeps longer moist than common bread.
