Fall Feast 2016
Our Fall Feast features no-fuss Tuscan classics in crostini/bruschetta form. Join us for a dinner of cozy, comforting dishes at the Foods of Florence studio!
While we love crostini misti any time of the year, there's something extra special about warm, crunchy bread in the colder months. Topping each slide with slow-braised ingredients is pure joy. Especially when the new oil has just been pressed and bottled. This year, extra virgin olive oil from the Florentine countryside has been elected as the star of our Fall Feast. We've pulled together a simple, light menu of crostini and bruschettas where vegetables and evo oil marry into irresistible treats for your taste buds.
Besides fettunta (a slice of toasted bread rubbed with garlic and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil), we will be serving cannellini bean crostini (creamy white crostini on rustic bread) and kale bruschetta (sauteed kale on dark bread). All the bread comes from Forno Moschino, a fantastic bakery in Sesto Fiorentino (take a look at their whole wheat bread and you'll fall in love). Vegetables are local and fresh. Still room for dessert? Try a sweet take on crostini - a delicious dark chocolate bruschetta. You might not know it but Tuscany is a popular destinations for chocolate lovers. Known as the "chocolate valley", the area that spans from Florence to Pisa to Montecatini is dotted with small chocolate factories, all producing handcrafted treats.
During Foods of Florence's Fall Feast, live music will be provided by Quattro Quarti, a Florence-based band of young musicians specializing in folk and bluegrass music.
