FETTUNTA GREASY SLICE

Fettunta, which literally translates as “greasy” (unta) “slice” (fetta), is a toasted slice of bread rubbed with garlic, drenched in fresh extra virgin olive oil, and then sprinkled with salt and black pepper.

During the harvest period, when oil is a bright green color and has a pungent, saline flavor, fettunta is often served both as an afternoon snack and as an appetizer.
